I want a fish of these, but as I understand it is not safe reef.

What corals eat a risk that are run?

If you are already used to eating nori, you run the same risk that eat coral?

I would be more worried getting one to eat. I've unfortunately gone through a few. The last two I had were eating everything. One ate a lot of coral. I ended up selling it. My other one ended up dying and the one I sold is still alive and healthy.

If they come from HI they seem to do much better. We had a local LFS order one so we could see it eating before bringing him home. Started him out with clams in half shell but quickly began to eat everything (NLS pellets, Nori and diy frozen). Has also more than doubled in size in 10 months. Tank is SPS dominant but has leather, ricordia, frogspawn. My wife's absolute favorite fish

Unfortunately, I've gone "through" too many. These are my favorite fish. I would dump my 5K wrasse collection and keep just one Idol if it meant he would thrive. Everyone I've ever had, ate. Some ate pellets, mysis and nori. Some just ate nori and ROE. None survived..except one I got rid of because it as eating coral. The guy still has it and says its super fat and healthy.

I think it's a lottery that will not die and do not eat corals.

In my case it is a mixed tank, as I understand likes to eat coral like candy cane, Achan and other similar forms, and those I have in my tank so it would be really risky to buy one and a coral is eaten is more expensive than.
