I know Zoas and Palys often change color when placed next to another variety, but has anyone ever had a monti cap do what this one is doing? The picture is under actinics. I will try to take a pic under the 10,000k without actinic. Also my photography skills are poor at best.

I think you are in luck! It looks like your montipora is grafting!!! Im not sure if star polyps can transfer pigments, since they are soft corals. But perhaps the green starpolyps some how are the reason the green graft started?

Look up the Tyree Grafted Cap and see if yours looks the same.

No problem, this is pretty unusual occurrence, unless it is force grafted(still unusual, just not as cool). So congrats if the green continues to graft!

All of the graft pics I have found were two montis placed next to each other where they just grew into each other. In this case, the monti is actually just changing part of its color pigment to match the star polyps

The ones that are just growing VERY close to each other are NOT grafting montis. Grafting is when a pigment literally spreads(inside the tissue) throughout the coral. Yours appears to have this quality.
