Most Popular Z's and P's?

Is the z/p fad coming back? Shrooms are kinda going out of style now huh?

I think utter chaos has to be up there right now. Nothing out there that's brighter. At least not that I've seen.

Lots of zoas I have are brighter than UC. Bowsers are way brighter, hyper phoenix about 2 times brighter, hallucinations, even sunny D are brighter. They are a good cheap zoa though and pretty strong/frag well.

We must not be talking about the same coral. I have sunny d right next to my utter chaos. Not even close. Haven't seen the others in person though.

Sunny D is another hot one right now too

Yes I have both side by side and get way more complement on sunny d they look much much brighter under normal lighting. Under blue actinic 420nm I think UC probably brighter but I don't have a rave going on in my fish tank lol...

Hallucinations and electric umpa loompas are super bright, but am also a fan of Rastas an all time classic to me.

$20 per polyp is crazy! Personally I think inflating price simply because people like them is an awful practice. Sunny d's grow like weeds. The price is crazy. I think price should be determined by difficulty of care and growth rate. Just my opinion. I sell my red hornets, suny d's, rastahs, ked reds etc... for $5 up to 5 polyps, $10 5-10 polyps, $15 10- 15 polyps etc... I think that's fair. Now my blue tubbs and teal zoas take longer to grow so a bit more. But $20 per polyp. No way!!!!

Agreed. I bought 4p of Utter Chaos for $20 at a swap. I got my Sunny Ds for $40 with 8p from a LFS. Reasonable to me. That same store wants $50 for 2p of Utter Chaos. Supply and demand :)

Yes this has been discussed a million times. I generally just give my zoas away free dont understand how people can "charge" for something that grows so fast and is just a hobby. Why 5$? why not just give them away? What makes you think they are worth 1$ per polyp? do you have some sort of cost analysis like calculating your electricity usage, time spent, additives like a business? How do you come up with the arbitrary number of 5$ for 5 polyps? And then second how is 20$ per polyp outrageous? I'm guessing there are people who have set up tanks and acquired zoanthids with the intention of breaking even on their coral maybe they have calculated their cost and accurately come up with 20$ per polyp in order to sustain their hobby without further investment. Then of course there is demand if your the only person in town with 5 polyps and 1,000 people are trying to buy them from you because they also want them. You paid 20$ per polyp are going to give them away for free and take your loss? Or would you sell them to the highest bidder? I dont understand why these concepts are so difficult.

I did not mean $1 a polyp. I would charge $5 for 2 polyps. More like $5 for asmall frag $10 for a med frag and $15 for a large frag because you wanna get a little something for your success and also reinvest or recoup cost. You do have the right to something. I have given away plenty and see no problem with that if its what you choose. And you are also free to charge $20 dollars a polyp. No way meant i would never pay that for any zoa. Just a personal opinion. Im not trying to say my way is better. Merely saying that there is no reason to charge large prices simply because you are the only kid on the block with a particular zoa which is a temporary state of being. You would have to get rid of some sooner or later anyway. As far as sustaining the hobby without further investment. Thats a fine intention. But assuming you take care of your colonies they will keep reproducing. So there is still no reason to charge $20 a polyp. You will be rich in a year selling sunny ds or similar fast growing corals at that price. It is clearly trying to make money. That is the american way. But at that point i would call it a buisness rather than a hobby. And lastly demand. Again supply and demand is a buisness theory not a hobby practice. So i feel it is taking advantage if you are a true hobbiest. All of this is soley my opinion. And i have no issue with anyone charging $1000 a polyp. I just wont buy it. Thats all i meant. It is my opinion. Not a judgement on others practices. Obviously if people are happy on both ends there is no issue.:-D:-D

Oh yeah and if I have 5 polyps and 1000 people that want them I have always used fcfs. I am not picky on who gets them nor do I up the charge or hold an auction. Lol again buisness not hobby. And I would not split the 5 polyps as I hate tiny frags. Dont even sell less than 5 unless they are specifically requested when people look. But again my own opinion and practice. @rock_lobster do you ship free too? Ill take some zoas! ;-)

Just realized that last sentence could be construed as not nice. I assure you it was a joke.

rainbow infusion seem be pretty popular in my area being they wanting $30-40 a polyp and seen few them for sale here lately but that price not for me lol

Like you frag bed wiz that makes it easy for them to grow onto huh might do that myself

Any advice on keeping those bright colors like pink ones need more or less light or rastas need shade etc etc I have found my gobbstoppers tend to fade under white high up but really pop under the blues high up how do you get the best of both worlds ?

I have lunar eclipse, rastah, tubbs blues, unidetified red, teal, ked reds, king midas, gb packers, unidentified orange skirt, red and blue hornets, yellow skirts, purple protopally, orange rainbow, fire&ice and green buttons all on my sandbed. Purple people eaters, Ra dragon eyes, incredible hulks and eagle eyes mid level. Sunny ds, pink gobstoppers and pink ladies up high.
