Well here it is.. My first salt water tank..

Here's a front view and a back view..
I'll be applying a black vinyl to the overflow area to hide the plumbing on the back side.

Here's some pics of the plumbing.. The one with the blue drain line is what came with the tank.. It was very simple, had a durso type drain for it, but still made lots of noise during water tests.. I opted to get rid of that altogether and go with something I can make a bit quieter..

Funny thing is.. that catfish went for a real swim during water tests.. I swear..

Thanks on the aquascaping.. I am really kind of fond of it too..

Well, the filling is complete and the pump is running..

And this new drain set up makes this tank by far probably the quietest tank you have ever heard..Hands down.. My fiancee said when I first set it up with the drain that came with the tank, during water tests, "Is it always going to be that loud?" Now she says, "Is it running?"

Here's a picture showing where I have the valve's holding the water level at in the overflow area... On the right side, you can see the water level in the tank vs. the water level in the overflow.. and it is virtually silent.. and a picture of the sump, the water level is about 3 inches too low on the return side, but even at this level, no bubbles are created with the 1000gph pump pushing that.. and no noise from it either.. I am beginning to question if I am even really getting even close to the 100 gph the pump is rated at.. I have a one way check valve on the output side, with a head height of about 3' It's a quiet one 4000.. I bet it's more like 600 gph.. either way, more than enough for now.. I may even add a vortech or two in the tank later and reduce that flow even more. But for now.. it works. and it's dead quiet.
