Hi Everyone,
Recently I purchased this beautiful goni that has grown onto the underside of its base rock. It needs to be mounted asap, but I'm worried about killing the polyps on the underside.

For now I've glued a pillar of frag plugs onto the underside, and just barely avoided blocking any polyps. The obvious downside is it will grow and not get much light down there. Would I be better off laying the piece flat onto a new base and glue over the polyps?

Really nice piece. Love the way the open up.

My thought would be maybe take it off the plug but instead of gluing it on a flat base rest it on some sand or gravel.

Thanks for all the suggestions!!

After inspecting the coral again, I'm realizing the underside will get glued over / pinched no matter what ;Dead Those polyps are 100% upside down.

I'm thinking of fragging the overhangs off so I can mount the parent flat but keep as many polyps as possible. I plan to let the coral acclimate a few weeks before fragging (like this guy did) but with a dremel+diamond blade. Suggestions still welcome and I'll come with updates!

I had a clam die and took one of its shells, flipped it upside down and glued the Goni on it. Because the shell curves the polyps towards the bottom still can sneak out. You can kinda see the shell under. Love yours by the way. Love some Goni
