I have a 75 Gallon Reef Tank with a canopy. Looking for innovative ways to mount the Kessil. It seems to close to the water to mount underneath the canopy. It is one of the first things you see when you walk into my home so I need it to be neat. Cant handle it looking like a science project. Any cool ideas out there would be appreciated. Mounting it under the canopy only gives me about 6 inches from the water so I'm trying to gain height but I'm not coming up with any ideas that are pleasing to the eye. Trying to figure out how I can still use my canopy..Thanks

It seems to me that fixture is made for hanging, so to getting a canopy involved complicates things.

You can gain a few more inches by cutting a hole in the top of the canopy big enough to fit the fixture that way it can sit in the hole or on the hole. Still either invisible or barely visible. Make sense?

Maybe consider switching to a strip-style light that can sit on top of the tank. It would be a good fit for that tank anyway. Consider an orbit marine pro, for example.

What about floating the entire canopy above the tank? Like the BRS 160, true it was built as a floating canopy, but maybe it's something you could do also. I prefer the Kessil hanging kit, but if you must have a canopy you will need more than 6" above the water to give you the coverage you need on the 75.

There is a canopy kit available. It's not very intrusive and will probably be the easiest to mount the fixture.

Nice find!

They don't mention it in the product writeup, but I'm sure you'll have to make a way for the fixture to vent through the top of the canopy.

I suppose you could come up with something. I drilled holes based on length and the spread of the lights.

Just realized I replied already to this one
