Mounting bracket underwater?

I’m concerned with my mounting bracket being underwater when attached to the tank. Mostly it’s plastic, but the gold rings around the bolts is suspicious. Anyone have experience with this?

Could the mount be installed backwards? Maybe the screws are supposed to tighten onto the outside of the tank?

It really can’t. Also, the other part of the arm are metal that go on the exterior

Ahh I thought it was all plastic, never mind then. Maybe someone else knows what those gold inserts are made of.
