Hello All,
I just purchased a new home and thus am planning out the aquarium of my dreams. I am really keen on getting a peninsula tank and specifically the prostar peninsula 200 as it seems to be more/less the same thing as the Red Sea and Waterbox just with more volume and less $$.
I have done a ton of research on lights and in a perfect world I would like an Aquatic Life Hybrid with a Reef Breeders Photon V2 hung around 10" above the water. Here is where things get tricky. There is literally no good spot in the house where I can hang lights from the ceiling. I have went back and forth with my wife on this a millions times and in short my peninsula tank idea is veto'd unless I can find a leg mounted option. I have scoured the internet for days and so far the best I came up with is using:
2 of these: https://www.marinedepot.com/aqua-illumination-hms-tank-mount-double-arm-kit
and
2 of these: https://www.aquacave.com/aquaillumination-ai-hms-rail-60.html
The Aquatic life hybrid is listed as 61" and the rail is 60" for this and many other possible reasons I'm not sure if this would work.
I have also seen a couple acrylic legs that look clean but don't think they would support this fixture either.
Any ideas how I could leg mount this thing in a nice clean fashion (I really don't like the look of the 80/20 aluminum)? Or any other ideas for a 60" peninsula tank that needs leg mounted lights? I really prefer a hybrid system as it seems just plain LEDS can never hit all areas of the tank on their own.
Thanks!
Edit: Just had a crazy idea.. What about mounting this on the tank https://fragtasticreef.com/prism-led-light-fixture-48-60-96watts-aquamaxx/ and just laying the aquatic life on top?? Definitely not as strong as photon breeder but still customizable, cheaper, and would be a super simple mounting solution.
