When I was building the canopy the final finish was slightly off from the stand I built. The canopy was still in the garage as I just had finished it.

The wife said " it doesn't match the stand". So this was during the summer and it was hot as hell in the garage. Not thinking, I ran in to the garage and reshot the entire thing......

It took her an hour to get the paint off and it tickled like mad!

I was an idiot. Lol

I mounted my lights to a bracket (made from aluminum angle iron) and then the bracket mounts to the underside of my canopy. There's about an inch above the lights so the fans can blow the heat out. I also put a stereo cabinet fan in the side of the canopy to blow the heat/moisture out.

This pic is a couple years old, but my lights are still the same.

Here's a Idiot move I made. When Kessil first released the a350w I had to get my hands on it. So I order it from Marine Depot. It finally comes and I'm so excited and my wife sits back on the couch to see was Kessil shimmer looks like.

I ripped the hood and molding off and made my little RSM 130 rimless the day before.

So like a real idiot I just had to see the shimmer. So I mounted the Kessil goose neck first to the back right hand corner of the modded 130. I grab a step stool and hold the lit up Kessil over the the tank and I'm just pumped.

So I decide that I'm going to mount the a350w to the goose neck while I'm on the step stool. Well... You guessed it.It's still lit up, I get butter fingers and plunk straight down in the 130 it goes

Counting dating the wife and I have been together since 1982. She quickly states the truth: "That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen you do"

It's funny now but I just wanted to cry that evening

Convinced my wife that going topless will solve all our lighting problems. [emoji41]. We may end up building a canopy in the future..similar to the one you built flippers. Thanks for the advice guys. I'm new to this forum and it's great to see people willing to give constructive advice.

Ported my canopy for some kessils.

I have a similar canopy on my 75 and ended up getting a 48" Current Marine Orbit Pro. It sits on top of the tank under the canopy with no problems. I like the light itself OK, but I don't think the colors I get are all that great with it. It seems like if the whites are on at all everything looks brown, even with the blues turned up.

I have a 40 breeder with a pair of Radions mounted using the rail system. I think it might be possible to attach the rail to the inside top of the canopy and use the regular sliding mount for the lights to the rail. I've though about trying it and it my case it looks like the lights would end up about the same height above the water as they are when the rail is mounted on the tank.

I have an orbit 36” over a 75 gallon and soon found that it’s severely underpowered for corals or an anenome which is my plan.

Are you familiar with PopBloom Reef LED Lights? Should I be looking at different brands instead?
