I have two pieces of encrusting Montipora. Is it possible to mount them on the same piece of rock near each other so they might eventually grow into one another, or will they just sting the crap out of each other? Lol. Theyre red and green encrusting montis. Also, I’m new to montis, so what are their light/ flow requirements? I’ve had my red monti for a few weeks, but my tribal Blenny kept munching on it, long story short, he’s gone now so I don’t know if the monti isn’t doing well because of the fish or because of it’s placement. Thanks (:

Hey there, if they are the same species of monti they won’t sting each other. From the sounds of it you should be good. They will grow next to each other fine, if your looking for them to blend look into grafting montis on YouTube, it’s pretty easy.
They like mid to high light, mid to high flow. More flow the thicker they will be, less flow more thin and more breakable. Both red and green encrusting montis are fairly easy. Just keep an eye on your alk, cal, and mag. :)

I’m pretty sure they aren’t from the same species. One is red and the other is green . Do they grow better in low/ high light?

Trial and error on a lot of them. Sometimes even if the skeleton structure looks the same they don't play nice. Better to mount with some distance in between then try a couple small pieces together after you can frag them. Otherwise you might end up with one or none.
