I'm moving soon and want to affix my RODI unit and booster pump to some sort of board or panel to make it easier to move and maintenance. I think the simplest way is to mount both to a 2x4 or plywood and clean up any excess tubing between components. Any pics or tips/suggestions to doing this?

Most come mounted already....is yours all in pieces, or partly mounted? (Pic!!)

It's mounted to the metal bracket, but I want to mount the whole unit to a board or something so it's easier to move around. It's kind of bulky to pick up by the metal bracket. I'm thinking a board or panel of some sort would make it easier to move around.

Most are permanently mounted, but I'm in an apartment. Bolt it to a 2x4 or plywood and bracket a board underneath so it stands?

The simplest is indeed to mount to a 2x4. Just find the studs in the wall and drill the 2x4 into the studs the RO into the 2x4. Once secured it will both give you the clearance to change the filters and the security on the wall so that the unit won't come off the wall when you are turning the canisters.

Get a stud finder and see if you can just screw it straight into your wall, or go with what everyone else stated and mount it to a 2x4 first then screw the 2x4 into the wall studs. From there you can cut/clean up the tubes to your liking based on how your water making area is set up.

I wish I could screw it right to the wall or a 2x4. I can't put holes in my wall, so I'll try building a 2x4 stand for it to keep both the RODI and booster pump in one place.

This is probably the most complex issue ever faced by a reef forum!

do this (at least):

In case that isn't 100 percent clear :
  • One 2 x 4
  • Two old pieces of base trim
  • Two extra large heavy duty book shelf brackets
  • Enough #8 or better wood screws (of appropriate length)
  • The wood makes a Z in the back
