This is interesting am going to try this for sure. I guess I’ll
Find out if it works or not well for me.

It depends if sps encrusts well or not. Some just don't encrust so you have no choice. Most of my Monti digitata don't put out a good base, so they get glued in whatever position they can stay put. But for almost every other frag they go sideways as I'm convinced that gives them more oomph. The corals must share some energy between different polyps no? So my theory is that having an encrusting base gives them more energy to grow a nice form instead of shooting for the moon. I can't stand Dr suess tree like frags, they have to spread out into a nice form. If they get all lanky, I'm just going to hack them apart later and start over.

But I get it if you only get a quarter inch frag, in that case do whatever you can to baby them.

Many don’t have the scape to pull it off IMO. Or don’t know about it.

A $89 1/4 in frag, most want to baby and instinctively, that means flat safe and secure.

As far as benifit , dunno. It sure is cool though and adds a lot of really interesting shape to the tank.

I was going to say, most people don't get frags big enough to mount horizontally :-P

Personally feel mounting sps horizontally looks better when you get some growth. I'm in the sometimes crowd though

I've been reading an article by Eric Bornman Mything the Point
He states outright "Providing the maximal amount of healthy tissue against substrate encourages rapid attachment and reduces the chances of infection and mortality. Placing cut edges in water flow encourages healing and reduces the effects of the detrimental attributes of substrate."
So I googled and ended up here :)

edit...
it's on page 2 search "glue"
