Mounting T5 fixture

Hello,

I have 24” 4 bulbs and deciding if I hang the fixture or just use the 4 legs and let it sit on my rimless. I think if I let it sit on the tank, it will be too close to the water and create issues- algae, water getting warm.
If I ever have to hang it , how high? It is for Lps and couple Sps.

It’s typically recommended to hang them between 6-9” off the water depending on how much light spill you can handle
