Hello!

Need to ask for some help seeing if my plan sounds OK? Somehow I was lucky enough to score a 75 gal tank w/ 10 gal sump. Impossible to pass up kinda deal. Its FOWLR thats been running 4 years now. 2 fish...a clown and annularis, not sure CUC. Half dozen or more nice chunks of live rock and 2-3 inch deep white sand bed. Sump is equipped with skimmer UV, etc. Will need minor upgrades ( lights etc) to go mixed reef. Have not seen in person, just photos thru friend.

Challenge: I need to pick up Monday afternoon. My thinking is this(forgive me if my freshwater is showing lol):
BREAKDOWN
-Catch and QT fish (large bucket, existing tank water, piece of LR or 2, airstone)...this to buy a little time to do the rest
-Store rest of LR in a separate bucket of tank water with airstone until ready for refill
-Drain as much water as possible from tank(save it or dump it?)
-Collect as much sand as possible in buckets with tank water to keep wet
-Detach plumbing/elec
-Move tank, sump, and cabinet 6 miles to my house
RESET
-Scrub, rinse and drain tank
-Rinse sand in batches, add to tank
-Add LR from separate bucket
-Refill with RO, Prime and bac? I have RODI, but takes a little time for 75 gal. Ill start storing now.
-Clean and setup sump, connect plumbing/elec
-Run for days and monitor parameters
-Add fish and CUC

Once up and running Ill mellow out lol. Just want to make sure I have a good game plan and wondering what you'd do. Big jump from 13 gal nano. Im ready. Thanks for help!:D

Save as much water as possible and have a bunch of sw on hand. Good luck. This would be a good time to just add new sand.

I just upgrade my tank from a 55 to a 75. I had to do it all at once. As the new tank was going in place of the old tank. Here are my suggestions
1. In QT you might want a heater as well, not sure what your temps are.

2. I would save as much tank water as you can.

3. I trashed all my sand and bought new.

I d love to toss the sand. Not a huge fan of the white.

Pet supply plus is having a 1gallon sale. Good time to upgrade.

I grabbed 2 big totes from Walmart filled those full of the water then divided the fish in buckets. I put the fish in $1 per gal petco tanks while I ironed out the display. I waited 3 months while the display stabilized. Worked out well

Well, got everything here successfully. Nicer than I thought. Sump is 30 gal? Eshopps, Bubble Mag skimmer. Fish are in QT. Just ditched the gravel. So far, so good. Thanks! Time for a deep clean!
