We are getting a bigger tank. And the bigger tank needs to go right where the current 65 gallon tank is. So we moved the 65. We took every precation we could think of. Planned out the move, and wrote down the steps. Without all the little details, the tank was drained to about 1/3 water. The sump was drained. And the tank was slid over (using sliders) about 10 feet. After, the water was re-added. The water was out of the tank and the move took about 10 minutes.

After it was done, we noticed that one of our damsel fish had died. He was on the botton. There was no indication of damage to his body. He could not have gotten sucked throught the pump, as he was too big compared to the strainer on the pump.

Not sure why he died. Maybe the stress? After the move, most of the fish hid. They are all back out today.

RIP blue damsel. We had a trio. Now we have a pair.

You might have created temporarily anoxic or toxic conditions for your fish by disturbing the substrate (if you have it) when you refilled the tank.
