Unfortunately we are downsizing and I need to move my loaded 120 gal reef. Luckily I borrowed a 125 gal tank to have at the new location to hold the livestock while I move and set up the 120. Its about 10 miles , so the plan is to move the livestock to the 125, then return to break down the 120.
I will have a ton of extra water ready. One of my big concerns is how to keep the sps encrusted rocks from shifting in the storage totes during the trip. I do not use or have any sand to put around them in the bins. Does anyone know how I can stabilize the rocks during transport?
thx

I have moved a handful of established tanks and I have found the best thing to use is towels. You can buy a pretty good sized pack at Walmart for under $20. Coil one up as a base then pack towels in around the sides of the rock. When they are submerged in the water they hold their form pretty well. Also, multiple smaller bins that hold a few or less rocks/colonies work better than a few big bins to try to fit more to save trips. Every time I’ve tried to save trips by using bigger bins I end up with a bunch of unwanted frags. Best of luck
