I just found with in the past week that I am moving in 3 weeks to a new home that is about an hour and half away. I have two tanks and I could use some help on the most successful way to move them.

I have a 75g reef and 29g biocube. Both tanks are fighting algea problems right now and the 75 is worst than the 29. I can't seem to keep any of my coral alive in my 75 as it crashed about 5 months ago and hasn't gotten better since. The 29g has a major hair algea problem. Any ideas on how to resolve these issues?

I recently bought a. Vertec protein skimmer that is for a 250g tank, but that didnt help my problem. When we move i am going to replace all of the plumbing and buy a new retrun pump. I was also considering replace my sand bed in the 75g. It is 3 years old and I think it is part of the cause of my calcium and alk swinging so much. It is about 3- 4inches deep. Will I run into problems replacing the sand bed?

The 29g I plan to keep everything the same and just relaxed the bulbs and scrub the rocks. It is doing fine other than the hair algea.

Any recommendations for moving a tank on a highway and about 100 miles?

More details on the 75? Are there fish? Maybe start the 75 over 100% if you can. What are your nutrient levels? You can use algeafix to eradicate the hair algae faster but understand you need to figure out the source. Algeafix works very well and very quick.

I might be moving 350 miles in a year, I will be buying lots of homdepo 5 gallonh bucks with lids for live stock and live rock. Will use the plastic bags lfs use when they sell corals and fish for the lose corals in my tank. I will then leave 1 inch of water in the tank and transport it as is. I'll also have some fresh salt water to use once I get to the new home which will be used for fresh water in the tank.
