Ok so I'm moving about 6 hours away in 7 months and I'm gonna have to move my 125 gallon reef tank because I simply can't live without it lol. I'm moving about 6 hours away and the temp here in nc should be about 75 degrees at night when I plan on moving the tank. So here's my plan in using a Uhaul and plan on using 35 gallon drums to transport the water and LR. I will bag all corals and fish individually and float them in the drums of water. I will remove the 2" to 3" sand bed and replace it with new sand and also have around 50 gallons of new saltwater. Is there anything wrong with this planner anything I Should be worried about like temp? Any tips? I know every tank move is different but I'm just wanting to be as educated and prepared as I possibly can.

here's a current pic to give you some idea of what I'm workin with. I also have a 40 gal sump underneath with around 30 gal of water in it.

replace the sand with live sand and keep about a quarter of it rinse in salt water and keep for the bacteria.....gl

I wouldn't keep any of the old sand. Your plan sounds pretty spot on. I've moved several tanks and that is how I did it. Keep your rock submerged at all times to reduce chances of any bacteria die off. Good luck with the move!
