Hello all! I am currently the proud owner of a 55 gallon aquarium that has been chugging along great for about the past year and a half. However, my lease is up and now I have to move it. :( While I'm none too happy about it, it has to happen. How should I go about doing this, and what advice do people have? I am moving 10 minutes across town and have access to a truck that can easily fit the tank and stand at the same time.

Is it a reef tank or just fish only.

If it's a fish only tank:
Dump most of the water or save it your choice.
Keep enough water to keep rocks submerged.
Keep rocks and sand in separate containers as sand will release lots of nasty and might wanna rinse it anyways. Catch all fish and place them in a container. 10 min ride is not far to worry about water temp or movement etc as long as they are not subjected to extreme cold or heat.
Take down the tank and stand and move everything to new place put it together and fill tank up with new saltwater or old your choice. I would start with fresh saltwater. Place rock and sand first then fill with water. Once debris settle down start adding fish making sure temp and salinity is same.

For reef tank:
Do exactly same but pull corals out first and keep them in a container with temp under control.
