We will be moving about 45 min away at the end of next month. In preparation for moving the tank, I have been reading mixed reviews on keeping or replacing the sand bed.

I just moved. Used all my rock but new sand fwiw. Not much of a guage I'll admit lol. Dealing with a battle on the sand but it'll pass I'm sure. Got a conch to help

If you can leave the sand in the tank without disturbing it and it's not going to dry out or sit for a week I would leave it.
I like sand beds so I am biased.

I just moved my tank on Sunday and went with new sand, I had the black sand and the amount of detritus and gunk that was in the sand bed was nuts. Even with a pistol shrimp, conch, etc. the sand bed was disgusting. My vote goes towards new sand.
