So, my husband is in the military and we are quickly approaching our next pcs, this time it's to Fort Meade, Maryland. We are currently at Fort Campbell (for the 2nd time) and this is our 3rd pcs with the tank. The first time it was from Campbell to Fort Bliss, Tx, the second was from Bliss back to Cambell. I've always had success moving my critters with minimal losses and figured I'd document it this time for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

The movers come Nov 2nd to pack our stuff so i have to have the tank down and cleaned by then for them to pack. Everything will be staying in a 20 gallon cooler until we get to our new place and I can get the tank back up and cycled. I have been having a hard time with bubble algae and apataisa so I'm taking this opportunity to start from scratch since I was going to have to cycle the tank again anyway. I ordered some Pukani from BRS and that will be getting a nice acid bath this weekend. For now, here's a pic of my red sea max c130. It is also the one I won in the nano in 90 contest back in 2014 (I think) lol.

Good luck with the move and thank your hubby for his service. Is he a helicopter pilot, spending so much time at Ft. Campbell?

Thank you! And no, he's signal. We just really like the Campbell area and chose to come back. With his job, he gets attached to all kinds of units. He's been with infantry, artillery, and EOD. Always something different.

Here's a picture of everything this morning. It took me a while last night to get all the coral off the rocks and rid everything of pests.

I would have suggested powerhead and heater, but it looks like you've got that covered! Good luck on the move...it's never any fun.

Brother retired, lastly stationed at Campbell. They settled in Hop-Town and are still there today.

Yup, got those and a little bit of live rock and sand from the tank so I have at least a little natural filtration. I also have prime to dose every once in a while.

Good luck! I had to move my 120 with 300 lbs of rock this summer. I had only had the tank up for a year, so I was crazy nervous. We were able to spend one day to just deal with the tank. It took us 12.5 hours. We left the sand in the bottom of the tank because I didn't have time to cycle it again. So, it was tear down and set up same day!! It was crazy, but I am happy to say that I didn't lose anything in the move! I am setting up a new 180, and we have never been in one house more than 3 years. I told my husband this tank puts us at LEAST on the 5 year plan - I do NOT want to have to move this monster! :)

I feel your pain, it's no small feat to move these things lol. We haven't been able to keep one up more than 2 1/2 years without having to move them. That's why we have a smaller tank. I'd love to get a big one when he retires.

I'm exhausted! The movers come in 3 days. I let the tank run overnight with fresh water and vinegar, scrubbed it this morning and now doing the final draining.

Good luck with the move. Too bad you weren’t coming to the armpit of the Usmc..... camp lejeune. I need some fellow reefers. Be careful dipping that pukani I did and it made it super brittle, maybe I just left it in too long.

Thank You! I let the rock sit for 25 min in the acid bath, the foaming in the picture was about as big as it got, I guess I had fairly clean Pukani . I'm hoping it made the smaller piece a little more brittle. That thing is fairly dense and I may need to break it up for my scape.

Ok! We are finally in MD and the movers delivered the tank today! There's no visibly cracks so I'm hoping it's ok. I'll be adding the sand and doing the scape tonight and filling it tomorrow. Livestock wise, everything seems ok. My big candy came colony got busted into a few smaller ones but that's ok. My high find banded goby is MIA but he may just be hiding.

SHE'S ALIVE!!! Oh and my goby is also alive! Saw him this morning and got him to eat!

Oh and I'll be setting my Pico back up as well. It's a 7.5 deep blue timeless.

Got everything moved over today. Everything is in the RSM until the first of the year. I only had one loss, a purple stag frag. It RTN'd on me overnight just a few days ago. The RSM is seeded with some old but cleaned sand from the previous build and some live rock that is in the back chamber of the tank. My hi fin goby and sexy shrimp are in the breeder net, they'll be going in the Pico along with my clown and a few of the corals. My Jedi mind tick monti isn't dead but lost a lot of its awesome color due to the crappy lights it's been under for the last 2 months. Just 24 hours in the new tank and it's polyps are extended so I'm hopeful it will regain its color. I just completed the transfer about an hour ago, so there's more settling in to be done. I've got a diatom bloom going but I'm hopeful my snails will take care of it.
