Ok I have been moving from my place of 10 years to a new location. The only eligible location for my tank is the garage. It isn't heated or cooled.
What's the best options to deal with the temp fluctuations. I have a 140 gal system. Any advice? Heater in winter will work. Summertime is the question. I don't have a chiller yet.
what's your best advice to get threw southern Tennessee 100 degree days?

Personally I say make another spot inside the house eligible...

But if that cannot be done, you are going to have to find a way to control the garage heat a bit. Is there a window where you can put a AC unit? Can you maybe drill a drier vent port out the back of the garage and use one of those floor model AC units? I just don't know how well a chiller will work if you are unable to cool off the ambient air around it as it needs to put the heat somewhere and that is typically in the surrounding room.

If it gets cooler at night, maybe an air exchanger could work to reduce the temps inside the garage in the evening and just deal with the humidity and higher temp swing during the day. Then at night it could pull in the cooler outside air.

Now take my advice with a grain of salt as I am not versed in the Tennessee weather patterns. I know this setup would never work in ND if there was no temp control in the garage. I just know that trying to use a heater and chiller to counteract weather patterns seems like it could get complicated and potentially lead to a quick disaster if there was equipment failure.
