Im moving in a week.5 hahah. I currently have a 40g breeder with 30g sump. In the garage i have a standard 75g tank with stand and a 100g 72X18X18 with no stand.Which one would you all choose; the 75 or 100g? The 75g is deep but only 48' inches long. Next question is lighting. On the 40gb i have a 36'' inch LED light that needs to be upgraded. I have been running the LED's for 3years now and not really happen with LED's so i wanted to either try the MH or T5. I was thinking about ATI sunpower 8 bulb. or some type of MH hybrid.

With the tank and lighting question out of the way. How does everyone move there tank. I was thinking about using some type of rubber made to move all the rock and corals. Then use rubber tubs to carry some of the water with me. The first day i get the Keys to the house i was going to make 25g of water and basically do a 50% water change. Thanks for any input.

In all seriousness, it depends what you want out of the tank. The 6' take gives you more fish options, but 18" is pretty low, but could be good for an SPS dominated tank, so if you want fish and SPS, go with the long tank. The 4' tank has fewer fish options, but could easily host a large variety of corals (not that you could not in the longer tank, but I find deeper tanks easier to manage the variety due to the variety of lighting intensities).

I cannot comment on your lighting question, because I am 100% LED and have had no real issues with what I can keep (soft, LPS, SPS, other photosynthetic inverts). The only time I have 'problems' is when I fiddle with the lights, stability is key...

Having moved several tanks, make sure you have lots of water in the destination, and try to keep as much as you can (clean water, not cloudy). Ideally by the time you get everything to the destination, you should have more than your total volume of water. I use "Strong Box" tubs to transport the rocks and livestock (separate tubs, of course), these tubs are black with yellow lids (some stores have blue or orange lids), they are very durable and inexpensive. Each tub holds about 25 gallons.

Also use a pump to pump the water, none of this hauling buckets of water through your house business... Your return pump and a clean garden hose should work fine; although you might need to get an adapter.
