Hi Everybody!

I have a few hitchhiker clams I want to move onto different rocks (due to pests on their current homes). They are latched onto their rocks way to hard, and I don't want to hurt them by prying them off.

Any ideas?

pull rock out of the tank and cut the rock around them. How are they being a pest?

photos would be helpful but ideally easing them off you don't want to damage the foot

I was rearranging my rocks recently. Some sand fell on the clam, the clam detached itself. Try it and let us know if it works.

No no, there are pests on the rock, algae, aptasia, that sort of thing, so keeping part of the rock is out of the question... I want to keep the clam, and throw out the rock ;)

I couldn't get any photos that would be helpful in any way, but I mean, it's a clam on a rock so... lol... Also they aren't 'easing off', hence looking for tips!

Interesting, I'll try that. I could also prop a rock up on on them so they get uncomfortable.

I also wonder if, what I call, the dangling anemone trick would work. That is, lifting the rock out of water so just the base is exposed, as the foot starts to dry, the nem lets go and frees itself...

Good idea. Dangle away and keep us posted
