Moving the tank over this weekend and just wanted to double check I've got everything covered
Luckily for me I've got a new tank ready to go at the new place, it's had it cycling for maybe 2 weeks now. I wanted to start fresh as I've got some grape caulerpa algae on my current scape and a few other things I'd like to avoid.
Questions -
1) Can I use my old bio media from my sump or is it likely to carry pests as well (none visible)
2) Can I use my old water, I've got the main tank full but I was planning to use my old water to fill the sump of the new tank. I was going to do this and slowly acclimate my fish by running a slow return pump so mix the tank water with the sump.
3) Does dipping corals remove the algae cells? The only trouble I've got is a stemmed hammer which has some of the grape around the stem, I was going to clear it off with a tooth bruch but do I need to dip as well?
4) Was going to find a clean piece of my sand to use to try and seed the new sand (ideally avoiding chance to spread algae)
I understand there's no way to remove 100% of the contaminates I just want to give as fresh a start as possible without causing so much stress to fish and coral.
Going from a 90cmx30x50 to a 85cmx60x60 with a new scape + new sand
Feel like mentioning, my tank is by no means full of algae, it's basically all on 1 rock off to the side, I only have 3 fish, 2 clowns and 1 fire goby. Algae is only recent due to the whole moving process, tank is still growing sps + lps perfectly fine
