Moving Nano to new larger tank.

I currently have a 5G Nano tank that I've been really fighting with trying to lower nitrates and keep stability in, I've lost several SPS in this tank due to the high nitrates. I just finished the setup of my new 66G tank and the plan was to get it completely through the cycle and then move the contents of the 5G to this new setup, but with the issues I'm having in the 5g I'm wondering if I'm just making things worse by waiting.

So my thought is to move all of the LR from the 5G and the remaining corals to the new tank and go from there. With the increased water volume, skimmer, and fuge in the new tank I think I will have a lot better chance of saving the remaining corals I have left. I only have 3 small fish in the 5G that will get moved over as well and not adding any new live stock. The rock I have in my new setup is seeded LR from purplereefrock so its not just base rock and I have been seeding it with Brightwell MicroBacter7 as well.

Assuming that I do not have any measurable Ammonia levels does anyone see an issue with doing this?

I don't see an issue. I think that actually sounds like a decent plan, I envision it like doing a huge water change. Just equalize the parameters you can (temp and salinity) and work them into the new tank. The biological filtration on your existing liverock (assuming its been set up a while) should be fine especially since your moving over the same bioload.

BTW, I think most people would agree that a 5g Nano is way more difficult then a larger tank.

3 fish of any size is too many for 5 gallons. with the rock it's not even 5 gallons.

Yeah I've had large tanks in the past and thought I would get back in with a nice small "easy" 5G tank, wont make that mistake again, bigger is better and easier. Thank you for the feedback, just wanted to make sure my thinking wasn't off base.
