Ok so I have no idea where exactly this thread needs to be. BUT I recently found out that the Army is going to be relocating us next summer to either Fort Bliss TX, or Fort Bragg NC. I just started my 10 Gal nano this past June and put about $600 into it. Has anyone ever moved a tank more than several hours away before. We are at Fort Campbell right now. I would rather take everything with me but I don't want to have deaths so I may have to break down and sell my livestock and I know I won't get my money back if I do that. I just sold all of my freshwater fish in my 36 gal tank and want to make it my reef tank and my 10 gal into a quarantine tank after the move.

Stock list includes:
Black and white Clown
scooter blenny
1 margarita snail
1 astrea snail
3 cerith snails
5 nass snails
1 turbo snail
4 hermits
1 brittle star
1 pom pom crab
mushrooms
Star polyps
duncan
candy cane
2 trumpets
hynophora
eagle eye zoas
2 other unknown zoas
frog spawn
sun coral
Strawberry shortcake goni
2 different kinds of favia
blasto

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It could be done, just has to be thought out and planned. Luckily a 10g isn't alot to have to move and can be done..... sounds like you have time atleast so get to planning ;)

As long as you are planning on moving by truck/ car and will have the room to do so its possible. Either move would be possible IMO. A power inverter, heater, small air pump are a few things that will be beneficial. I haven't moved that far, but I've done all my moved in the dead of winter here in MI... 20g, then a 75g then a 180 twice... 10g shouldnt be to bad.

I moved a tank from northern California to southern California years ago. It was a 55 gallon tank. I put all of the livestock and rock I wanted to keep into an ice chest with a safe amount of water to keep everything submerged. I ran a heater off my cigarette lighter through an inverter and used a battery powered air pump to keep the water oxygenated. They stayed that way for several days after I arrived until I hot the tank unpacked and set up.

I think if you got a nice big 15 or 20 gallon cooler you would be just fine. A battery powered air bubbler and heater would probably be a good idea too. Just make sure your tank is the last thing you pack when you leave and the first thing you set up when you arrive. I would definitely go for it!
