So i just moved and the floor is way off. My stand doesnt rock but the water is visibly higher right than left. Its a 56 column 30x 18x 24 i think. I read not to wedge something under a corner to raise it because it will compromise the stand. Any input? Think it will be ok?

I not so sure this is accurate, I'm in a 60yrs old house, hardwood floor but, uneven thus had to use plastic wedges (lowes) on all of my stands... 5yrs later have no issues with any of them.

Ok thanks ill try to see what i can do. I just moved into 150+year old house in salem mass and the floors are ridiculously slanted. I had it on a wall and the bottom of the stand was 5 inches off and the top almost 7.5. So i kiddy cornered it so it leans to the right rather than forward

being that the system is empty (assuming) you might want to shim it every 6" all the way around, another option would be to place a 3/4" inch piece of plywood (sealed) and shim that first prior to placing the stand over it.

Salem... Are you sure the floors will stay leaning that direction ;)

Shimming under the stand is OK, but do it with the tank empty. The plywood idea is better though as tou are basically shimming the top of the stand to be level and let the bottom rest on the floor. Just screw down the plywood after shimming if you do it that way so the shims don't move.

Not to hijack this thread, but if a tank is sitting on carpet would it still be okay to shim it? Also would composite/plastic shims be better than wood?

Not sure how screws would go over on hardwood floors but going to home depot now to get some things

How did you make out?

In simple terms... awful. Well i got my 80 level with 5/8 plywood shimmed. My 56 is off but wont be up for long. I dont know if in the move i stirred the sand up to much but all my acros are gone. Lots.. chalices are ok and so arent zoa palys.. did a 15 gal change yesterday and another 15 today. Lost a couple shrimp,a clown, a leopard wrasse, and a BORBONIOUS anthias... not a good couple days. I did the same moved i had made before and everytging did fine

Ouch, sorry for your loss... Moving down right sucks, and nothing can make up for losing a prised fish, truly sorry man!:(
