Moving rock from tank to tank

Starting another tank and won't to transfer some of my rock to the new tank . I have bought live sand for the new tank . My other tank has been going for years but I have been fighting red algae off and on with it . I don't want to get any of the red algae in the new tank . If I set the old rock out side the tank how long will it take for the any red algae to die so I can put it in the new tank .

Try scrubbing off with an automotive detail brush or soaking in 3% peroxide
