Hey everyone! I need some advice , I have a 20 gallon reef tank in my dorm at college and am taking it home for the summer! How would you guys recommend transporting my one clownfish and 2 green chromis also my hermits!! Thanks everyone!

I transfer my fish in 5 gallon buckets, sometimes I use a styrofoam ice chest for insulation. If you are traveling a long distance (hours) you might need to provide a means of keeping the water warm, you'll also need to agitation the surface water to provide adequate O2.

Good luck on the move. :-)

Bag them up like is done at an LFS or if they are shipped. Then put the bags in styro. Don't disturb them and leave the bags sealed.

I transported mine in a 5 gal lowes bucket with a lid. I put a hole in the top for an air stone to provide oxigen and they mad the ride (1 hr) just fine. It is warm here so did not have to worry about temp. One caveat, if you have a firefish goby, I would bag him. If you have a lot of fish he might get picked on. Good luck with the move.

Get yourself a container with a cover to prevent water from spilling all over the place. Im not sure how far you are driving but if you cant make the trip in 5 hours or less id get a power adapter for the car add a heater and a air stone. Best of luck
