We just bought a bigger house and will be moving the end of June. I have a 3 week window that I have to move the tank.

I currently have a bare bottom 180gallon mixed reef , mostly sps and some lps. About 100lbs of live rock from my sump that I will be taking with me.

I will be buying another tank to pre set up at the new house before moving. It will also be a bare bottom tank. I'd like to use dry rock for the display and keep the love rock in my sump. I have some friends that will be holding the corals I am taking with me for a little while until I get thing settled. But in will have to add some corals that are to big for friends to hold within my 3 week window.

My main questions are
Anything I can do with the dry rock before adding ,to help speed up the cycle process?

How long should I wait before adding corals once the dry rock is in my display?

How can I minimize coral loss for the pieces I have to add relatively soon?

Thank you for you help in advance

You can start the cycle in a brute trashcan. Just add some ammonia and a powerhead with the dry rock. You can also put a small piece of the live rock in the trashcan after a while to help speed it up
