Moving SPS full size colony from one tank into another

I have a question that might be some concern here with my sps.
I'm adding into a 120 inwall which 99% done just waiting for "more signs of life"
Is there any worry about moving in LR with a "6x8" table acro and some plates?
Sand bed and water with some LR been running for 1 1/2 months now. (did 1/2 gal seed)
Currect tank SPS are in is a 40 breeder. I plan to add an extra 55 gal with that 40 as
my RO/DI and mix setups.

I moved some colonies a little too soon when I upgraded and killed some really nice colonies. You may want to try some frags of those colonies and wait a couple months to see how they do in the new tank. I did this and only waited 3 weeks and it didn't go well for me.

thats my only thing.. i hate to cut up any but give them a few weeks to heal then move into the new home and see how they take.
Or just buy a few healed (plug over frag) and give it a go.

Start transferring water from the old tank to the new. Do it during large water changes. After a virtual 100% change (and all the water changes happening on the old tank) you should be safe.

Chaderduke ..... Pls take your time I just did something similar two weeks ago , lost my entire collection ! If u can wait alil longer with doing water changes from old system do so

OMG I am sorry sorry to hear that.

Did you loose the coral because you moved too far away?

Was it all SPS or did you have other Coral?

If it were me,,, I would try something like setting up a tub next to the current tank that I could have plumed into the current tank, and slowly add the rock for the new tank to this tub, and slowly start adding water over time, until I had as much water in the tub that I will need to fill the new tank. Then close the valve from the current tank to the tub, move all the water and rock from the tub to the new tank, turn the lights on over the new tank to match the old tank,,,,, done. When it comes to not losing corals during all of this,,,, you can't be in a hurry,,,, it takes what it will take,,,, when it comes to time ,,,,

I did a massive upgrade from a 58 to a 250 gallon, the 250 was cycled with base rock and dry sand, I transferred everything at once, and only lost a large birdsnest. But any acros I had were small and easy species to keep.

If the entire contents of your current tank are going into the new one -doing the water changes mcarroll noted IMO you'll be fine. I did the same when transitioning from my temp tank I had set up going into my current tank.
If everything (mainly all the live rock) is being transferred in essence your just increasing your water volume-granted the additional surface area will colonize bacteria but it had zero effect when I went from 150 gallon to 400
