I'm moving in 2023 - exact date is unknown (waiting on a new house build) and in the meantime I downsized my tank to something a little more manageable for us to move ourselves. My CADE 1200; however, will need to be moved and the husband wants to store it temporarily so we can cleanup/repaint the wall behind it to sell our current house. I was thinking about getting in touch with an LFS to move it into storage for us, and then help us move it to the house when the time comes. He wants to do a POD. I am 100% sketched out by the way they operate the moving of the pods and not confident the tank won't be shifted somehow and messed up. Curious if anyone has ever done this? Also looking for any other ideas.

The resell value on a used tank is not great and I don't want to sell and repurchase in the future. That's not a feasible option for us.

Personally, I wouldnt POD it unless I have cushion all over it. Storing the tank isnt necessarily a bad idea, but silicone doesnt do well in temperature swings while out of water. If it were me, id bite the bullet, store it in a climate controlled storage unit and move it myself with some pals.

I'm not really concerned about temp swings, FL is pretty consistently HOT. We were discussing building it a crate similar to what it was delivered in initially, and using that expanding foam in a bag stuff to cushion between the tank and crate?

In the last 10 years I did 2 cross country moves. First from NY to BC then BC to S. Florida. We used a professional moving company. Both times they sent someone out to build a custom made crate for my tanks. The tanks arrived both times without a scratch. I would call a moving company, explain your needs and see if they can get you in touch with someone who can crate it.

A crate is the way to go for sure, If that can be done for sure pay for someone to do it.
