Moving tank from old stand the new stand

Hi reefer I’m moving my 40 gallon IM all in one tank from the stand it’s currently on to a new one I built. So my question is when I drain the water should I refill with new water or put the water I take out of it back in it?? I use blue bucket Red Sea if that matters. Thanks in advance to who may reply!

People have lots of different opinions on it, and I think either way would work. I personally used 75% new water when I upgraded my tank, and it was fine; in either case, make sure you have some extra mixed up in case something happens.

Just be careful not to pick up too much disturbed sand or debris in the water you are taking out of the existing tank.

Having recently swapped stands I reused the water. Can’t see any reason to do all new.
