I am sure this topic is beaten to death but I am moving my 20 gallon to a 40 in the same spot. I was going to drain everything (coral and rock) into some 18 gallon bins set up the new tank with new live sand and put the current live rock, and marine pure blocks i currently have in my tank in there with the water from the old tank and new water to fill up the 40. Does it still need time to cycle before putting fish and coral back in. I am guessing not since the live rock will never be out of water. I will probably slowly add a few small pieces or LR over the next 2-3 months maybe 1 piece every month to fill it out a little bit. Thoughts?

I wouldn't think you would upset the biological balance by doing that. My guess is you will be fine.
