Wondering what is the most efficient way to brake down the 65gal and move all occupants to the 125 gal BUT the 125 is going in the same place as the 65 is sitting now also how do i make sure the tank dont recycle and kill everything

Planning on using what old water i have then will have to fill up with fresh saltwater to get up to the overflow also gonna add more rock but dont want to use live rock was also thinking of soaking the old live rock in peroxide to kill some bristle worms or any algea etc as to not move it into the new tank

i know this is a lot of questions but any help would be appreciated

Your going to need the rock you have live if you dont want to recycle the tank. That being said... this is how I did exactly what your doing.

I broke down my 40 gallon and moved into a 75. I used buckets and totes to hold everything. All rock without corals went into one, fish in another with a small heater and air stone, corals went into a tote including the rock with corals attached with an air stone. It took all the water in the tank to fill those containers. I had 80 gallons of saltwater stored in a huge vat in the kitchen that also held my new live rock. Once the old tank was empty I moved it out of the way, cleaned the wall and floor where it was and moved the new bigger one into place. After plumbing was done, the new live rock went into the tank followed by brand new live sand. Then the new water went in followed by the rocks with corals on them. I let it run with a filter sock tied to the power head to clear things up quickly. Once mostly clear I introduced the fish along with the rest of the water from the old tank and the corals. Done! It took most of the day (about 9 hours) to get it all done and I did have one other person to help. I didn't have any ammonia spikes, only a dusting of diatoms for about a week, then back to normal.

That is exactly the info i needed thanx so much ill take some photos of my process to share thanx alot for the info :-)

any time! good luck! :D

Missed the part about the 80 gal of fresh SW i assume u added some of it correct? Did u use all of thr old water

Then the new water went in followed by the rocks with corals on them.

This is where the stored water went in. I used my old water to fill the sump which is a 40 breeder and to top off the display some. I didn't use all the stored water, just about 65 gallons after displacement.
