Hello fellow reefers,

Only had my fluval evo 13.5 set up 3 months but looking to upgrade to a 30 gallon, unfortunately cant go any bigger because it wont fit where the mrs wants it lol.
Currently got 10lbs of live rock in my evo but will be adding caribsea life rock into the new tank ( as well as my live rock) as I don't want any unwanted hitchhikers and bar for the odd aptasia my live rock is full of good things.
would I need to cycle the new tank before I add my live rock, fish, crabs, corals etc (from my evo) or is it possible to add these when I set up the new tank, and how would I go about it.

Thanks in advance

Dom

I did the same thing but upgrade to a 40 aio. I got new live sand and used my previous rocks in the old tank. Let the tank clear up and added everything into the tank after the salinity and everything checked out. Everything is doing fine and thriving

Sorry for the newbie question but when you add fish, corals etc do you need to acclimatise them to the new tank?, also do I add the water from my old tank into the new one?

I acclimated everything to play it safe. And when I did it I used all new water didn’t use any old

Forgot to mention if you have any pest corals or any pests what so ever that you don’t want this is your time to not put them in new tank. I had pulsing Xenia and I got rid of them as they were too invasive. Also had a coral with aiptasia on it. Check the rocks for stuff to be safe

Got a few Kenya trees I want to remove, they appear to be fast growing and are growing everywhere on one rock
