Hey yall

so ive had my SW tank set-up for about more than two weeks now and its heading toward the end of the cycle, ive got 2 clowns and a chromish (used bio spira to help speed things up and keep fish safe and theyre doing great) (theyre also starting to dance at each other?) lol

anyways i have a 20g tall tank now, and i plan on moving them to a 40gallon (3ft long, 18inches tall and 18inches depth) and im curious, i think i was told on another post i can do this but i wanna be sure and safe!

this is what ill be doing, correct anything if wrong please!

40gallon tank, get some basic LED (not keeping coral yet so no need for special lights NOT YET! lol)

Put in 20gallons of salt mix, add new 40lbs of live sand (New sand not from old tank) then fill the rest up with the water i already have in my 20g tank, add my rock (all while keeping the fish acclimating in the bags on the new tank) while i move the live rock and set up the heater etc, add a bottle of bio spira and then let them loose, would this be okay? or would i need to have the tank fully heated before adding the fish? (I will have the 20gallons of water in with the live sand and let tank sit for a day or two with a filter going so it can make the water clear )

so basically, move heater to new tank the 40g, from 20g and add water rock etc and then add fish?

Can i move the heater? (only have one heater) or do i need another to heat tank before moving the water from 20g and rock etc or will it be okay at room temp if left for a day or two?

also how many fish can i add (Stock) into a 40G wide?

annndddd, my current heater does up to 40gallons, (would this heat my 40g tank okay?)

I would let the tank warm up a bit before adding them, but everything seems alright other than that.

you think maybe just remove the fish into bags and put the heater into the new tank and let it sit for a while? (All while they acclimate?

Hmm, difficult to say. If it were me I would find a place to put them for a little while with some water from the tank they are in. Let the tank heat up enough until it's at a safe temp before adding them.
