Moving to the area

Well do to certain circumstances I am going to be relocating to knoxville soon and I was wondering if any of the stores have decent prices and good livestock . I am currenty spoiled by world wide coral here in orlando so nothing will be as good and I was wondering if theres anything decent though . I used to live in northeast tennessee ( bristol) and having a reef aquarium there sucked , all the local stores wanted 40-50 per frag of anything that wasn't completely brown . So my question is , is there any high end aquatic stores in the knoxville area ? I have been looking at the coral reef online and the seem really nice and pretty close in quality , how are there prices ? Do they have nice colorful lps frags for 15-20? Or are they bristol prices ? Regardless I am looking forward to meeting everyone and joining the club when I officially move in up there .

Your going to miss WWC for sure. Actually I've heard that the Coral Reef gets some of their coral from WWC but they are a bit higher in price than 15-20$. Aquatic Marine gets some nice coral in from time to time if lawmanrob doesn't buy before it even arrives...I buy most of my coral online, so if your ever looking for highend stuff and wanna go in on an order with me to save on shipping let me know. **** , That really sucks ..... Yeah I love world wide coral I might seriously cry haha .. I was talking in general with the 15-20 prices , obviously I wasn't talking like a jason fox acan frag I was talking like a 10 polyp eagle eye zoa frag or something like that . World wide is awesome but its not cheap thats for sure . The coral reef seems like they will be a ok alternative though .

Welcome to the area. I do most of my business with aquatic marine or local reefers. Like Rob , Justin , Mel . From what I've seen wwc really spoils their customers.

To be honest i'm not 100% sure, i've only inquired on 1pc of coral there and that was a leptoseris frag(an incredibel hulk, i believe). They wanted $55 for it if I remember correctly. 80% of my coral comes from online, 10% from frag swaps, 5% from local reefers, 5% from aquatic marine. I'm sure i'll catch some "flack" for being a coral snob, but you like what you like...

Yeah I into rare coral ... I have a few pieces from them that would make you cringe haha . Seems like we will be good pals justin haha . I am considering starting a big frag/growout tank when I move up there . I will miss world wide but it seems like it won't be as bad as I thought .

Welcome to Knoxville, I moved from S. Fl 5 years ago and I'm still not totaly adjusted. Parkstar is the official Z&P snob in town, we do have a few local reefers that like the higher end corals, I'm mostly SPS but I will hit up Justin (K2Parkstar) for Z's&P's every chance I get. Coral Reef also gets shipments of SPS from the Solomon Islands, a lot of real good looking stuff just not "named". Aquatic Marine also gets a lot of wild colony stuff, there just is not enough of a market in town for the LFS to keep a full stock of designer corals. Like Justin said, almost any local will be willing to split shipping cost on an online order.

Yeah I imagine, we'll have some coral preferences in common. I wish I had space in my apt for a frag tank! I've bounced around living all over the place, and I love Knoxville, but the reef scene isn't anything compared to Florida.

Welcome to the area. I just moved up from coastal ga and I am very pleased with the shops in the area minus one. AM and the coral reef are great. And Rob and Mel have so far had everything I have wanted and or had to have.

Jack o lantern is surprisingly a fast grower for me. I'll be ready to frag in 3-4 months I'd say...

I think I'm gonna be in it for the long haul on the orange emulation...seems to be a slow grower...

Cool looking forward , not sure when I will be arriving but I went from being sad to kind excited now . I lived in bristol 6 years up until march 2012 then traveled around the country and thought orlando was the perfect place to live and its nice but just not for me . I can't stand bristol but I have always like pigeon forge/knoxville area so this will be cool . Any of the fish stores sell premixed saltwater and ro/di freshwater ? I only have a little biocube setup currently so Its just easier for me to buy water .
