Posted this over in the fish forum as well, hopefully the mods don't mind a double post. Just looking for some suggestions as quickly as possible:

I purchased a QT'd and conditioned Moyeri Wrasse back on Nov 20th. I used an acclimation box with a container of sand in it but she seemed stressed out so I let her out. She dove in the sand and then I saw her out on day 2 via a camera I have on the tank. In the time I was able to watch that day I didn't see anybody hassling her. But I never saw her after that time. For the first few weeks I didn't do my weekly sand vacuuming so as to not disturb her. After about 3 weeks with no sightings I started maintaining the sand again. This morning as I got ready to leave for work she is out. But she looks super skinny (nearly 2 months of hiding will do that I suppose) and she's swimming poorly.

My questions are.

  • Do I leave her in the main reef where she's been? There's a lot of flow and there's more fish so more competition for food.
  • Do I move her to a bare bottom frag tank I've been setting up. It has pods, but only one other fish currently
  • Do I move her to what had been my coral/invert QT tank. There are currently a couple fish in there that didn't go through QT so they are being held until I can free up a tank. There is sand and there is pods but fish weren't treated yet.
  • Is she even going to make it or did she come out to die?
She did seem to be going after food when I fed the tank but she's swimming pretty poorly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

For now she’s back in the acclimation box in the main tank. Figured it might protect her a bit from the flow and any other fish picking on her. She does seem to go after food so I dumped some extra into the cup of sand in hopes she might get some more.

That's good that she's eating. Are you adding some vitamins into the food? Selcon, Zoecon, etc.? Consider adding some Beta Glucan it really helps boost the immune system. Here's a link to an article from the Advanced Aquarist discussing the benefits of BG. ;)

She was still alive after work yesterday in the acclimation box but she didn't seem happy so I moved her to my bare bottom frag tank for now. I put a couple containers with sand from the main tank in there.

There's only one fish in that tank so she doesn't have to compete for food and there's no pod eater in there so she can have any and all pods. I dumped in some white worms as well as a few baby brine shrimp from the end of the previous batch. I started another batch of baby brine last night so hopefully after work today I'll have quite a few I can add.

She was out and about some last night before I went to bed and she was still alive this morning, not in either of the sand containers but still alive so I'll take it. So I guess fingers crossed that she can fatten up and recover.
