Hello,

I’m currently using a MP10 at ~1300 gph. Depending on what program I run, the noise from the pump is noticeably loud.

My question is, if I bought the larger MPs but running at a lower percentage of power (same gph), would the noise be reduced? I’m assuming the noise is coming from the currently pump nearly maxing out.

My tank is my living room, not much noise pollution at all where I live.

I have 2x mp40’s I run at 25% and they are dead silent

Yes
The equivalent would come into play- high rpm is similar to the low on larger unit
Often the noise is associated with the magnet

When the pump is at maximum speed (100%) you can hear some noise but should not be loud. For example I run my MP40 at 60% and I cant hear them, the tank is also in the living room.

Question will be what model you have: Black controller QD or white controller? The QD are a lot quiet than the old model white controller.

Also, a way to troubleshoot from where the noise is coming is:
Remove the wetside and only run the dryside at 100% speed, if the same noise is there, then the issue is in the dryside and maybe the bearings are the issue.

If the noise is not there, then you need to disassembly the wetside and clean it, also look if the ceramic shaft is not broken as that the part that breaks a lot from the MP10 wetsides.

It’s hardly noticeable when it’s just flowing. The noise that is annoying is when it’s ramping up.

It’s the newest model. Purchased brand new 2 months ago from BRS.

I’m aware of the misaligning noise issue as I didn’t have them lined up originally causing a lot of noise.

I’ll try your troubleshooting issues when I get home tonight.

Nothing noticeable is wrong with the MP10. I might just have better hearing that I thought. Will probably look into buying the larger pumps, reducing the power to lower the decimals.
