Long time lurker here but this is my first time actually creating a post. So my tank has been up for about 6 months now (first marine tank) and all has been going well. I have a few sarcophytons and some discosomas and some gsp, all have been doing well. I purchased 2 juvenile perculas the other day and I had heard some horror stories of fish getting sucked into the PH so I figured I better put the foam guard on which had previously not ever been in place, these are my first fish. Well I noticed almost right away that the performance on the MP10 seems drastically diminished with it in place and the sarcophytons don’t seem happy about it (not much polyp extension after the change), even with the PH up all the way. So I’m wondering, if anyone has any ideas on this matter, if this is a normal thing with the foam guards. I was considering attaching some 1/8” mesh around the outside with zip ties as an alternative, thoughts? Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys and good to finally participate here. TIA.

Saw this post awhile back, guy came up with a 3d printed cover

There’s a guy in uk that sells 3d printed covers . He’s on Facebook as Paul Burns ‘Burna’
It’s been on the Red Sea owners group. You have to PM him to order, but it’s been popular in that group.

Basically it’s to protect anenomes from getting sucking in so it doesn’t trap dirt like the sponges.

Thanks! That looks pretty slick. It looks like it’s the entire cover for the wet side and not just something that attaches to the existing cover, if that makes sense.

Unless you have wandering anemones, covers are really unnecessary.

You’re probably right for the most part, but I’m a little concerned about my little clowns. Rather be safe than sorry. One of them already ended up in my overflow box.
