Hey everyone I’m setting up a new frag tank, it’s a Reefer 170.
The tanks glass thickness is 3/8” and the MP10 maximum glass thickness is 0.375”
Will I run into issues long term with this? I truly love their pumps because I hate seeing cables inside the tank and this is why I really want to go with this wave maker.

Any recommendations/tips would be appreciated

Thats the exact size they're specified for. Never used them myself though. Save a couple hundred bucks on some jebao and I've never even noticed the cords.

I have a couple of mp40s and I love I can tune them to my needs but just a little wary that the mp10 is off by .025” would hate spending that much for an unusable pump

So I have a Fiji 32g external and the glass thickness is 0.39” and I purchased two mp10’s without researching haha and my main issue is if I run them on nutrient transport mode or at near full speed they will buck off the magnet occasionally. In my limited experience opinion unless you plan on running them full speed or nutrient transport mode you would be fine.
I also think smart rigging of Nero pumps work awesome too with minimal cord in tank but I love my MPs also

Can tune jebao also. For much cheaper you can also change the way they're pointing.

This is what worries me, have you tried hooking them up facing to the front? Maybe the backboard is thinner than the glass side.
Haven’t heard much of Nero pumps yet but I keep seeing adds for them, have you tried them?
I like the mp40s cause they just make the aquarium look so clean and cleaning them makes it so easy with having multiple wet sides I just drop them in water and pump clean and done

no never tried the back wall since my tank is small and I decided to just go constant mode at 30% for an attempt at a gyre like effect although it would be nice to actually use the transport mode once in a while. If I had to do it again I prob would use two Nero 3 on the back wall bc they would just disappear and also the fact that my MPs are just sooooo way overpowered I spent like 300 too much on pumps

Also, agree that switching out MPs is absolutely the easiest way to clean a pump but it will cost +$50 each pump to do this (also these dang things break due to the brittle ceramic shaft when opening up the cover to expose the propellor/rotor so be careful when cleaning if you open em up). And while the Nero isn’t quite as switch and forget, the Nero pumps are also easy to disassemble and clean, you can pull out the pump face and rotor and clean those away from the tank and pop it back in without messing with the magnet and no possible breakage can occur with its desig.

final point, the MP is my favorite pump! But man the outside motor is HUGE and quite unsightly. So the cost of beauty inside the tank will come somewhat at the expense of the outside , something I’m happy to deal with but thought I’d mention.

recommend the urchin cover for the MP if you have a small tank or small fish/inverts! I love it

I ended up pulling the trigger this morning on the mp10. Just much more convenient and I also have a couple of battery back ups from ecotech. I have these covers as well but the nem guard since I have a lot of RBTA’s and would hate for them to become a very expensive smoothie
