Hey guys and gals!

I took advantage of the Ecotech sale and ordered a pair of MP40's for my Reefer 250 this week. I'm currently running a pair of MP10's. I'm wondering about flow comparisons like % vs %. I currently run my MP10's at about 80-85% alternating back and forth between constant speed and reef crest. So left side constant for 2 hours, right side reef crest, then they swap. I don't want to stress my fish out right away, so what would be a good ballpark to shoot for on the mp40's using the same flow pattern? I was thinking like 40%ish?

I have 1 MP40 on a 40 gallon breeder on wave move at 100%.
My 2 clowns, blie damsel and sizline wrasse to not seem bothered by the flow.
Then only thing Ive noticed is my acro frag plugs move from side to side on the frag racks, but they are super happy with full PE.

I honestly thought MP40's would have 4x the flow, they may be alot stronger but it does not really seem like it to me.

I have an MP40 on a 4 foot tank and two MP10s on a 3 foot tank and they are both powerful and offer great, broad flow with the MP40 being much more powerful. Holy flow @Jimmy Lee in a 40B! I found two MP10s in a 40b more than plenty and it blew sand everywhere! I assume you run bare bottom?

@North Borders I would start with half power and make adjustments from there. The MP40 flow coming out of the head is much more broad and moves a fair amount of water with ease compared to the MP10s.

I have 3 mp10's on 4 foot 75 with plans on 1 more ........ should I do a mp 10 or mp40 ?

I have 2 MP40's on my Reefer 250. Had an MP10, but the glass was a bit thick for it...still worked but a little noisier and not adhered well so I replaced it with a 40 with the sale. the 40 has a much wider flow, not necessarily higher velocity

I put them on the top-middle of each side of the rear wall and have them on 35%, which is about as strong as I can get without causing sand to blow. This way, they are working in concert with the return pump (which I put a Y splitter on) to create a gyre-like flow that goes from top back, down the front glass and over the gravel to the back. The best part is you can't really see them and there are absolutely no cords visible looking at the tank or in the tank. If I turn them on 100%, I get splashing over the top.

That's what I was hoping to hear. The mp10's were great on my Reefer Nano, but I feel like the stream is a little too concentrated on the 250 now. Hoping that the flow streams are much more broad for my SPS.

Yes I run Bare bottom. They flow is great dont get me wrong but I just assumed it would be more than it actually is.

I've got 2 MP40s in a 29 gallon with no issues. Start around 25-30% and work up from there until your sand moves a little, then back up a hair.
wow 2 mp40's in a 29!!!!

That's a lot of flow haha. I think I'm going to be much happier with the wide currents.
