Yesterday I got what I thought was a good deal on two MP10 Ecosmarts.

The seller informed me that both worked with no issues.

When I got home to test them I discovered one of the dry sides is stuck in stall mode. It turned on for about 3 seconds without the wetside but then died again when I put the wet side back.

I have tried all the fixes found here and also on Ecotechs website with no luck.

The only thing I have not done is replaced the bearings.

So my question is, would changing the bearings help? Or is the motor dead completely?

Do I need to find a new dry side? Is that worth it if I can even find one? Or should I just forget them, eat the money wasted and get new QD's?

Thanks in advance!

Any advice?

First of all, I’d be corresponding with the seller who said both were working. Have you swapped wetsides between the two pumps to isolate the problem to the dryside? If any water got into the dryside, it will eventually rust and seize up. Perhaps open it up to see if the magnet turns easily,

I did that and it does spin freely.

Also, I'm waiting for a reply from the seller.

Agree that your first course of action is with the seller. If he burns you, I've rebuild MP10's with new bearings. Let me see if I can find that post....I'll be back. Just to be sure, this isn't QD, because they are different?

Correct. Sadly they are not QD.

I'll try the rebuild since the bearings are so cheap.

Thanks guys

@redfishbluefish
I have a damaged MP40QD dryside.
Do you have a video with part numbers for bearing replacement for them?

Unfortunately I do not. I don't have first hand experience, but understand that the OD's are different to the older regular MP's. Sorry.

If you take it apart, you can spec the bearings by the numbers on the bearings or measure them using a micrometer/caliper to can figure out which ones to order. Boca Bearings is the place I used for bearings.

I guess it's not going to hurt. It's not working at all right now.

Thanks
