so I just bought two brand new ecotech mp10wqd and one pumps dry side is not anywhere close to being quite like I can hear it across the room but the other pump I can't hear it at all even on full power they have only be in a tank for about a week and no change at all. Has anyone else had this problem? Idk what to do for 280 I should not have to hear it at all. Just don't get how one pump can't hear it at all but the other is supper load. Any advice?

The wet and dry sides need to be perfectly aligned. I suspect it's off just a tiny bit and that will create a vibration. Take the wet side and move it around a small amount until you hear it get quite. When I align my MP60 I do it by listening, not sight. I but it on MAX constant or short pulse so I can hear it well. I make tiny tiny adjustments until I find the sweet spot.

These QD's are improved but Vortechs are not silent. The motor and bearings are outside the tank were as all other powerheads they are in the water and that will dampen sound.

Good luck, let me know if that helped you.

Thank you for ur input I am at work right now but once I get home I will try that and hopefully that will help I thought I had them pretty close to being aligned but I will try to get them right on the money I will post back once I try that out.

If you just used sight I guarantee that's the problem. It's impossible to get it right on sight alone. Keep me posted.

So I tryed to make is perfect and it's still loud I took the whole pump out to look at the wet side to make sure nothing was loose and everything seem good to me so now idk what else to try to do. Do you have any more suggestion?

Is there any kind of spacer with the MP10? Did you hear the vibration get worse then better as you kind of moved it around to center it?

I have the rubber pad in between the dry side and the glass and when I was moving it around it was still making the same noise It did not quiet down at all. I noticed with I touch the dry side part there is a real bad vibration on the inside.

Try swapping the wet side of the two and see if the issue follows. Moving around the wet side till it quiets down is sage advise.

I'm rather unimpressed with Ecotech. This is a brand new MP10QD out of the box and yes I tried adjusting it many times. BRS said the fastest way to resolve was through Ecotech's warranty process so I sent them an email. We then did back n forth emails trying to diagnose it over the course of a week and I finally had to call Ecotech while I was at work to resolve it. I finally got a new wet side in the mail a week later and while it is not as loud, I can still hear it sitting 10 feet away as it spins up and down. I'm really unimpressed with the quality and service after spending so much money on a simple product. This was my first Ecotech purchase and looks like it probably will be my last. o_O
