Mp40 foam covers vs plastic guards

Looking to get everyone’s opinion,on the foam covers for the MP 40s VS. the plastic guards anyone’s opinion on which ones less maintenance and or better for the tank not necessarily in that order

The foam on my MP40 was plugged up in about 1 week, switched to a 3d print nem guard and only needed to be cleaned after 1 month.
