I set up my new MP40 yesterday, set it to Reefcrest at about 40% and a couple of hours later left for work.

That evening, my daughter messaged me to say that my tank was making a loud noise and sent me this video. It definitely looks like it is running in reverse. She powered down the MP40 and left it unplugged.
On returning from work, I powered it up and it has been running fine overnight but this has knocked my confidence in what should be a premium product.
Any ideas what could have caused this?

Check flow by putting your hand in front of the pump. Flicker/strobing in lighting can sometimes make a spinning object appear to be going backwards.

Thankfully it seems to be working okay now. But judging on the noise and the way the flow was coming out of the back of the wet side (as can be seen and heard in the video) the only think that I can think of is reverse flow.
Unfortunately I wasn't home at the time to investigate further .

Okay, my MP40 has just started making the same noise again and I have noticed that the wetside is slowly spinning.
I have the correct spacer for my thickness of glass (10mm)
Any ideas?

Still having issues. The MP40QD will run fine for hours and then start to make a whining noise and you can feel the vibrations on the wet side. If I switch it off and re-align it will be fine again for a few hours and then repeat.
I'm thinking of putting the thinnest spacer on. Would this be a problem?

I have noticed on my mp10 that if the wet side is not perfectly inline with the dry side it will be off balance and cause serious vibrations.

I think that this is the issue. My guess is that the wet side is slowly moving out of balance which is why it runs perfectly for hours and then starts to vibrate.

Make sure the clips are seated properly on the wetside. They hold the magnet/prop assembly in the wetside frame. Do you have another wetside that you can swap in? Otherwise contact ETM customer service.
