Alright so tonight I set up my new tank. I adjusted the setting to proper inch width, and turned it on. I started low and it worked fine. Then I started to turn it up. It was working, but then the wet side started spinning! The thing locked up and started flashing the signal for stall sign. I unplugged it, and pugged it back in. It flashed through all the colors and then again started flashing the stall signal. I am at a complete loss as to what to do.any advice please?

Try disassembling the wet side to make sure that the shaft & impeller aren't binding. You may also want to try a vinegar bath if it's used.

I guess I should have mentioned that I took apart the wet side. It was locked up, but now it's not. Maybe what I should be asking if there is a way to reset my vortech to get it to run again, because right now it won't let me do anything

Ya, reset it. Had that happen to me on several occasions. The driver thinks the wet side is dry and you have to reset it to work properly again.

Thanks for the videos, but nothing seems to work, it's completely locked up, I can't even turn it off without unplugging it

Unplug it, as the second you plug it in, do the reset procedure. That was how I had to do it, before it started flashing red.

I think this is the method for the older non "eco-smart" version, which I had to do also.

[TD="class: text85"]The most common cause of a VorTech pump driver blinking red is because the auto-disconnect calibration was performed improperly. In order to enable disconnect auto-shutoff protection, you must perform a calibration step. This procedure is outlined in the instruction manual. An important aspect of this procedure is that the dry side of the VorTech pump must go through the calibration sequence while holding it in your hand. If you leave the pump attached to the aquarium during this calibration process, it will result in blinking red errors that will remain until the calibration is cleared from the pump's memory. To clear the calibration, you must perform the following steps:
  1. Hold mode (pump blinks white)
  2. Hold mode and set (pump blinks yellow/white)
  3. Cycle power to the pump by un-plugging and re-plugging it in
Upon re-powering, the pump should operate normally. If you would like to re-enable calibration properly, remove the dry side from the aquarium, hold it in your hand, and follow the directions for enabling pump disconnect auto-shutoff protection in your user manual.

Oh, that is different, that is the motor going bad. Check the pins under the spacer to make sure they are ok, if they are the only fix is to contact Ecotech and see what they will do. They have fantastic support and I am sure will do everything they can to get it working for you as cheaply as possible.

Their number is:
1-800-785-0338 ex. 2.

I watched a video on disassembling the wet side. There are more pieces than I thought there were, and pieces I think are jammed together
