I understand there are a lot of different ways to run these things and it depends on your tank and what it likes, but I was curious if anyone out there has 2 mp40's and decided to run each one on a completely different mode than the other.....I always see people on here with them on the same mode (sync or anti-sync) and I barely see people talking about not syncing their vortechs at all and just running each one on a differently for more of a random flow...for example one on reef crest and the other on NTM mode....Let me know your thoughts or experiences!

Try anti sync on reefcrest my corals love it. Nutrient export works best synced together. With reef link controls r as easy as using my iPhone . Awesome

Funny you day that because that is what I run now! I heard during reefcrest that the average percent is only 50% speed? That's why I was looking into possible not even setting up the master and slave and just have one he on reef crest and the other be on TSM or NTM....that would be super random flow also! Don't you think?

If Time 06:00 to 09:00 Then Lagoon
If Time 09:00 to 10:00 Then ReefCrst
If Time 10:00 to 12:00 Then Pulse
If Time 12:00 to 13:30 Then TidalSwl
If Time 13:30 to 15:00 Then Lagoon
If Time 15:00 to 17:00 Then ReefCrst
If Time 17:00 to 19:00 Then Nutrient
If Time 19:00 to 19:30 Then Lagoon
If Time 19:30 to 06:00 Then Night
If FeedA 000 Then Slow
If FeedD 000 Then OFF

this is the right mp40 and the other run anti sync, I think if you run different cycles throughout the day theirs different current.
but following along also

See I need to buy a reeflink or an apex so I can run a schedule! Right now I am trying to run reefcrest on my left on and then TSM on my right one...obviously no master or slave at this moment....time will tell!

I've got a 12 gallon jbj nano, and run mine on lagoon at lowest setting. Can anyone tell me what it does when I go into feed mode? I'm guessing that it can't go 50% of the lowest setting. Thanks

Also, if I'm running lagoon at lowest speed... what will night mode do for me? Sorry about the stupid questions & thanks.

I'm sorry I don't know about night mode....I think it foes drop to 50% though

I wish I could help but the apex controls all that,i run night mod at 20% but again the apex controls the pump..Im sure someone will chime in
also have you checked out ecotechs website for better detials on the pump or a couple youtube videos..

Random flow is old school. With one vortech, I have better flow than any other config i've tried. Go with the new technology and give up the past !

I agree there power is unreal....so you run yours on the green color then? The constant mode?

I run my MP10 on short pulse mode. It's accross the tank from a constant flow Koralia, and the tank also has my skimmer return. It's been this way for about two years now, and my SPS seem plenty happy.

I have thought about Reefcrest mode, though. Has anyone directly compared it to a decent wave from short pulse mode?

I use nutrient transport mode at 70% in a mix tank. Do you think is better the reefcrest mode? Or only is best if you have only sps?

I ran reefcrest mode for v quite awhile. Got bored one day and switched to NTM. My corals seem to like it a lot better.
